April Career Workshop............

This was a delightful Career workshop - we had 5 people there...........Thomas Billiman, Sharon, Darlene Lee, Charlene, and Maureen Tso...........didn't get a lot of pictures because we were so busy- Elder Hafen trying to man the office downstairs and go up and down and me to carry on the workshop. The Parkes (the couple who were here as missionaries when we came - that we replaced) came to visit, there were just a lot of things going on at the same time. It was rewarding to see the people blend and help each other through the workshop. It was fun for all of us and they grew in many ways. Office was busy after the workshop, had a piano lesson at 5:30 and then we went to visit a couple who wants our help to get into the church more......and then we picked up Daniel..............so the days go! We have a new missionary coming tomorrow so will see who that is??????????

Great Week..........

This has been so exciting - we helped Daniel Laughing get a job at Jewkes Silver Creek Mortuary.....he will be helping with funerals and doing the office and computer work.......he is SO excited. We picked him up tonight after work and there was actually a glow on his face......he had us pick him up at Kentucky Fried Chicken (he'd gotten extra money for the work on the funeral - in addition to his hourly wage) and so he wanted to go there and buy dinner to surprise his family!! What a blessing for him and for us!

April 17th - Red Letter Baptism Day!!!

We were so excited today to have "four" baptisms - all of them referrals from our office. We love this work! Elder Hafen got to baptize Travis Begay - his 2 little girls and his mother and father came - great people. Then Cecelia Bowman and her two grandchildren Dominica Nakai and Rex Nakai were baptized by Elder Wight.............You guessed it again Sister Hafen at the piano......We loved the whole day........can you see why we love these people?

Saturday in Snowflake - at the Temple

We drove Johanna Henderson and Michelle Casuse to the temple to do some temple work for their families that we had worked on the new Family Search Site to get information....it was such an exciting and fun day. This is about the only restaurant in Snowflake - but it is a fun Mexican Restaurant. The trees and all were beautiful there - they had just planted hundreds of pansies on the grounds at the temple. The temple sets on a hill where you can overlook the entire valley at every angle and it is beautiful.

Photos of Special Zone Conference - Flagstaff

Great zone conference in Flagstaff - visiting General Authority Paul V Johnson (Seventy and Commissioner of Education in the Church)........great speaker and great teacher. We learned a lot! Fun to see everyone there for all the areas - some are now leaving to return to their homes and we will miss them. Our mission scripture "Doctrine and Covenants: And in the barren deserts there shall come forth pools of living water; and the parched ground shall no longer be a thirsty land." Love that scripture. We are seeing some of those pools of living water here in Window Rock.............

New Car Day!!

This is getting to be quite fascinating..............today we drove to Gallup to pick up the rental car again......my first thought was it looked like a hearse - but you know we really like it. It is a Ford 2010 Flex........seats up to 7 people..........has the little navigation system and everything - we are going to be spoiled........Pretty soon we'll be able to tell you anything you want to know about new cars!!!!

A Delightful Visit From Brad, Dee Dee, Morgan, Logan and Haydan....

It was so fun to have our little Hafen family arrive and enjoy a few days with us...........we hadn't seen Haydan since he was born in December, Logan had grown a ton and Morgan is now quite the young lady! We were so grateful for their sacrifice to come and visit us - it was a LONG drive for them.

Our Wheels for a while.......

Since our little trial with the oil change - (really change since it all ran out)...........where the service station didn't get the oil filter tightened on and we now have a ruined engine......this is our car while we wait - Actually it's pretty nice and we are thankful for any kind of wheels!

The Easter Bunny DOES come to Window Rock...

Early Sunday Morning the doorbell rang and there was some heavy knocking at the door and as I went there...............there was Sister Chun and her daughter Truly standing with this huge Easter Basket.............It was filled with fruit, nuts, granola bars, licorice, chocolate, cupcakes....and all kinds of goodies! What a happy Surprise..............She already brought me a box of truffles for playing for the Young Women last week during their activity. They are such incredible people.......We are so sad - they are going to be leaving in June after school is out to live in Utah. Since Brother Chun had his stroke he just isn't the same and had to resign his job here as school principal......we will miss them so much.

Easter Egg Hunt........

Elder & Sister Cain put together a little Easter Egg Hunt at the church on Friday the 2nd........just having the Elders hide some plastic filled eggs around the church yard and then we served hot dogs, chips and pop................They had fun. I think the Elders had as much fun as the kids and they had just invited a few families..............could have been a ward activity.
