Next Stop Hotevilla

After our bread baking experience, Shirley took us to several Hopi Villages (the houses being thousands of years old). It was so fun being with her - she took us places that we could never have gone without her. All the while we were riding, we were firing questions that she just kept patiently answering! Before we left her home, she gave us each a necklace that she had made, so we wore them throughout the day.

We went to Hotevilla, Old Oraibi, Kykotsmovi, Shipaulov, Shungopavi, Second Mesa and ended up at Mishongnovi. We stopped at a grocery store and bought groceries for two of her sister-in-laws that we were visiting. It is protocol that you take groceries to your in-laws!! We ate lunch at a really old grocery store.........The food was SO expensive. We each had a chicken breast, Shirley had wings, and we shared potato wedges and a drink! We were going to have bought some onion rings, but they were $5.98 per pound! Have you ever heard of them being sold by the pound??? None of us even knew how many that would be, so we opted not to have them.
