Week of Service...........

Monday we had a family come in to the employment office - they had three children - in the course of our conversation we found that they had no gas money to even get home - living in a borrowed hogan and no food..............so Elder Hafen gave them $ for gas and food that night and then we went to the store in the evening and bought groceries to have them pick up the next morning..................it is SO sad to see poverty and the sadness in their eyes - but so rewarding to feel their gratitude for service given.......

We are working with a wonderful family the Etchitty's - Victor, Roberta, Juliette, Jonathan, and a younger daughter...........they are ready for baptism and will be baptized on the 25th - we have been helping teach them and fellowshipping them.............they are just the greatest people....this morning at church Roberta brought me two little boxes - one was a ring (she had bought it for herself and it was too small beautiful).........and the other was a beaded necklace that she and Juliette had made (she had stayed up until 3:00 one night and then about the same the next to get it finished for today..................she was so excited to give it to me.............they are just such a generous and loving people.

Had 7 people for Sunday dinner today - it seems that happiness and love just fills our little trailer and we are being blessed in so many ways.................

Have met several interesting people this week - one was an Apache man (Charles Claw) who was just so interesting to talk to - I learned much about the difference of the Apache. He drives a bus during the school year, but was wanting employment for summer so he could buy his children school clothes...........Learned that the Apache do not eat mutton - only fish and beef. Then talked with a sweet Zuni girl on Saturday - her aunt is a "rain princess" and they had just gone through the ceremony where they fast and pray for rain...........the young girl was responsible to help prepare the food for them after the fast and prayer.........Tradition weighs strongly in the lives of these people..............they are believing.........

Work is good.....................WILDA - where are YOU???????????? I got a different look with my hair yesterday in Gallup.............but it is okay and I can always survive for 5 weeks right?????
